Amazon rewrites its engineering playbook for the AI coding era
Amazon has sent revised engineering guidelines to its developers for an era when AI agents write nearly all the code. The guidance calls for measuring engineers by outcomes rather than inputs such as tokens or lines of code. The company also disclosed Velocity Labs, an April-formed team that released an open-source AI model in under a week.
