Roadmap takes shape

Speaking at the "Semiconductors Powering Humanoids" seminar in Seoul's Samseong-dong, Intel SVP Cho Min-sung laid out the timing for the company's next-generation chips. Nova Lake is slated for 2027, with Razor Lake following in 2028.

Razor Lake-AX and 700 TOPS

The headline figure is the 700 TOPS of AI compute targeted for the AX variant of the Razor Lake family. TOPS stands for trillions of operations per second and is used to describe a chip's raw capacity for AI workloads. That figure is given as roughly 3.88x that of Panther Lake.

Why it matters

Intel is competing to push AI compute beyond the data center into PCs and edge devices. Higher TOPS can allow larger, faster models to run on-device. Still, these are vendor targets; real-world performance will be settled by independent testing.

Timeline

Per the remarks, Nova Lake is planned for 2027 and Razor Lake for 2028, meaning Intel's next major architecture transition stretches out to 2028.
