$15 billion over two years
Google plans to invest a total of $15 billion in Malaysia in 2027 and 2028, covering data centres and cloud operations as well as water, power and training. The commitment is one of the largest moves to expand the country's digital infrastructure.
New campuses and a water plant
The company will expand its existing campus in Selangor and build new facilities in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. Google is also funding a $160 million water treatment plant in Negeri Sembilan.
Why it matters
Data centres are the physical backbone of AI and cloud services. An investment of this scale fits into a broader race to establish regional cloud and AI hubs across Southeast Asia.
