A record surge in the memory market
According to Counterpoint data, global DRAM revenue rose 369% in the third quarter compared with the same period a year earlier — an extraordinary jump for the memory sector.
Demand comes from AI
The increase is driven by intense demand for AI infrastructure. The AI accelerators and servers used in data centers are rapidly expanding the need for high-bandwidth memory, and DRAM is one of the indispensable components of these systems.
Samsung on top
According to Counterpoint, Samsung maintains its lead in the DRAM market. Its share in this period shows it was among the manufacturers that benefited most from the rising demand.
Prices may stay high through 2027
The report expects memory prices to remain elevated in 2027 as well. That means costs are unlikely to fall in the near term for either hardware makers or consumers.
