Shopping by message

Amazon has made its personal AI shopping agent, Alexa for Shopping, usable over text. Starting today, a subset of customers can message the agent to get their shopping done quickly.

Heading to the U.S.

According to the company, the texting option will roll out to customers across the U.S. in the coming weeks. That means users can search for products and place orders conversationally without opening an app.

Why it matters

Amazon is moving shopping out of the search box and into a messaging flow. The move is a notable sign of AI agents settling into everyday shopping habits.
