AI support for productivity apps

Apple announced it is adding an AI assistant to Keynote, Pages, and Numbers. The assistant is built on models from Apple and OpenAI.

What can it do?

  • Keynote: Design slides, add animations, and refine slides.
  • Pages: Draft, restructure, and tweak written content.
  • Numbers: Calculate, visualize, and organize data; suggest chart types and build custom tables.

The assistant can understand a document's context to perform these tasks.

Third-party agent support

Apple is also adding Model Context Protocol (MCP) support on macOS 27 and later, allowing third-party AI agents to plug into these apps. The protocol is a standard that enables AI agents to interact with applications.
