A bid to reach public markets first
Anthropic has filed its S-1 prospectus with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, formally kicking off its IPO process. The company plans to list its shares on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker symbol "ANT." The move positions the maker of Claude to become a public company ahead of rival OpenAI.
First-half financials
According to the filing, Anthropic recorded $16.3 billion in revenue and an $80.7 billion net loss in the first half of this year. The figures suggest the company is growing fast while its costs climb sharply.
Goals in the company's own words
In the prospectus, Anthropic says it aims to "revolutionize every area of human endeavor" with AI. The document also lays out potential risks for investors and for the wider world, alongside the company's plans for the future.
How the process unfolded
Anthropic first filed confidentially with the SEC in June. The now-public S-1 reveals more detail about that filing and sets out the company's vision in its own words.
