What changed?

NVIDIA updated the technical specifications on its Vera Rubin NVL72 webpage without a public announcement. The changes, flagged by Guru3D and ITHome, were confirmed by comparing Wayback Machine snapshots of the page from September 1 and September 11, 2026.

Bandwidth cut

According to the revision, HBM4 memory bandwidth was reduced by up to 26% across multiple configurations. Sixth-generation NVLink link speeds were also lowered. In return, scale-out networking capabilities were increased.

Why it matters

HBM4 is the next-generation high-bandwidth memory standard, and NVLink is NVIDIA's proprietary interconnect for moving data between GPUs. These figures directly affect the training and inference performance of large AI models. The lack of an announcement could create uncertainty for data center customers planning deployments.
