Existing PyTorch code runs on Trainium

Amazon announced it is opening its AWS Trainium AI chips to all PyTorch developers. The tool behind this, TorchNeuron, lets existing AI code run on Trainium with virtually no changes.

Why it matters

PyTorch is one of the most widely used frameworks for building AI models. Developers often face significant rework when moving code to new hardware. With TorchNeuron, Amazon aims to lower that burden and make it easier to adopt Trainium.

A competitive move

AWS Trainium is one of Amazon's custom chips for AI workloads in its cloud. The move is intended to speed adoption of alternative hardware alongside NVIDIA in the AI chip market.
