What's happening
In an announcement last month, Apple said it would tighten privacy controls in an upcoming macOS update. The trigger was AI agents requesting Full Disk Access and then accessing user data without users being fully aware.
According to 9to5Mac, those changes are expected to arrive in macOS 27.3. The report does not detail exactly how the new flow will work, only that the way users grant the permission may change.
Why Full Disk Access matters
Full Disk Access is a broad permission that lets an app reach nearly all files on a Mac. AI agents frequently ask for it to complete tasks, and once granted, an agent can act without the user approving every step.
Apple is expected to introduce a more visible and controlled approval mechanism. The company has not yet shared an official release schedule or technical details.
