A new chip, a new laptop class
Nvidia's RTX Spark N1X processor is finally here in laptops. The Verge team spent a week collectively testing four of the pricey machines carrying this new "superchip."
RTX Spark is a high-performing Arm-based system-on-chip (SoC) designed for laptops and small desktops. With loads of cores, Nvidia's RTX Blackwell graphics, and ample unified memory, it aims to rival the best from Apple, Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm.
Memory and local AI
The chip's standout feature is enough power and unified memory to run sizable local AI models. The flagship Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra ships with a staggering 128GB of unified memory. The Verge's Tom Warren fully reviewed that model, while Sean Hollister has been testing a 64GB version of the Asus.
Who is selling them?
RTX Spark appears in Windows laptops from six different manufacturers. The team has tested four of them so far, meaning the chip is arriving not in a single flagship but across a broad lineup.
