Two carmakers, one stack

Mercedes-Benz will develop its next generation of driver assistance and automated driving systems together with NVIDIA. The company is not building on its current systems but on this collaboration for what comes next.

The announcement came just a day after Volvo Cars expanded its own NVIDIA partnership for automated driving. That puts two separate carmakers on the same technology foundation.

A shared base: Hyperion

The stack both companies will use is built on NVIDIA's Hyperion computer and sensor architecture. That architecture combines the sensors that perceive a car's surroundings with the computing hardware that processes the data into a single package.

Choosing the same platform can lower development costs for carmakers while keeping software updates on a shared track.
