New York bans AI chatbots from pretending to be human with children
New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed a law barring AI chatbots from implying they are human to users under 18, building emotional dependency, encouraging self-harm or holding sexual conversations with them. A second law on baby monitor security was signed the same day.
