EU Commission says TikTok's For You algorithm breaks platform rules
The European Commission has alleged that TikTok's For You recommendation algorithm creates a "rabbit hole effect" by repeatedly exposing users to content about sadness, isolation, or body image, breaching online platform rules. Preliminary findings announced Friday suggest TikTok's existing controls are not effective, and the company is now required to change the design of its For You page.
