Scope of the deal
From 2027, Oracle will offer cloud services running on Cerebras Systems' AI computers inside its own data centres. The agreement, announced by the two companies, marks the entry of Cerebras hardware into a major cloud provider's infrastructure.
Why Cerebras matters
Cerebras builds chips designed specifically for AI computing. The company went public in May and is expected to roughly triple its revenue to almost $3 billion next year.
The market balance
Investors' main concern is Cerebras' place in an AI chip market where NVIDIA is the clear leader. Oracle's choice hands a major customer to non-NVIDIA inference hardware.
What it means
As cloud giants look for alternative chips, the deal gives Cerebras a chance to gain scale. But with the service starting in 2027, its impact will be felt with a delay of a few years.
