A new model with limited access

Google has released Gemini 4 Carbon, its newest frontier AI model, to a small group of cyber defenders. It arrives roughly two weeks after Gemini 4 Argon reached paying users.

Koray Kavukcuoglu, senior vice president at Google DeepMind and Google's chief AI architect, announced the model in a Google blog post on Wednesday.

Top of the ranking, not the market

Carbon ranks first in the ranking cited by the source. The model is not generally available, however; access is limited to selected cyber defence teams.

The move signals Google's strategy of positioning its most capable model on the security side first. The source does not say when Carbon will open to general users.
