Arda Industries steps into the light
Arda Industries, founded by OpenAI's former research chief Bob McGrew, has come out of stealth. The company announced it has raised $232 million in total funding.
What it does
Arda's AI software converts new product designs into working assembly lines. In other words, it aims to automate the transition from the design stage to the production line.
Funding details
The $160 million portion of the total is a Series A round. It was raised at a $1.5 billion valuation and co-led by Altimeter, Accel and Khosla. The breakdown of the remaining amount is not specified in the source.
Why it matters
With the push to revive manufacturing in the US, AI moving onto factory floors is drawing attention. Arda is one of a new wave of startups promising to close the gap between design and production through software.
