Abu Dhabi's state oil company ADNOC has signed a multi-year agreement with OpenAI and G42. The deal covers integrating AI agents into ADNOC's operations.
The announcement came during a visit to the United Arab Emirates by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
First energy company
ADNOC will become the first energy company to use OpenAI Frontier, a platform launched in February. The platform is aimed at letting organizations run AI agents across their business processes.
Why it matters
The use of AI agents in critical infrastructure sectors such as oil and gas marks a new phase for both efficiency and operational risk. The deal is one of the steps combining the UAE's AI investments with its energy sector.
