Anthropic ditches Git: builds its own source control system to keep up with AI-driven coding speed
Anthropic built its own alternative to Git after AI agents pushed its code change rate from about 2,500 to over 30,000 merges per day in six months. The new system, Scion, was built by a seven-person team and the migration from Git took five months; a new code review system called Antique was also introduced.
