17-gigawatt Texas AI power project clears federal regulatory hurdle
The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has published its draft environmental review for Project Matador in the Texas Panhandle and conditionally recommended combined licenses for four Westinghouse AP1000 reactors. Led by Fermi America, the project envisions a roughly 17-gigawatt private energy network combining nuclear, natural gas, solar and battery storage.
