IonQ links two different qubit types at over 1,000 entanglements per second
IonQ demonstrated a photonic link connecting a trapped-ion qubit with a silicon-vacancy (SiV) qubit in diamond at more than 1,000 entanglement events per second. The company says the result exceeds the previous record for trapped-ion systems by more than four times. The goal is to connect separate quantum systems without creating communication bottlenecks, enabling larger machines.
