General Fusion crosses 'world-first' 1 keV fusion threshold without lasers or magnets
Canadian firm General Fusion heated plasma above 12 million degrees Celsius inside its LM26 prototype, reaching an electron temperature of 1.1 keV. The company says it is the first machine to hit this mark using low-speed mechanical compression rather than lasers or superconducting magnets. The team is now pushing toward a 10 keV target.
