AI demand triggers PCB shortage: lead times stretch to 30 months
AI data centers are consuming manufacturing capacity once reserved for PC makers, causing a shortage of printed circuit boards (PCBs). According to industry managers quoted by Nikkei Asia, some PCB orders now take up to 30 months to fulfill, while copper clad laminate costs have surged at least 12-fold since July.
