What happened?
Twitch has stopped users under 15 in Turkey from creating new accounts under a newly enacted law. The company ties the decision directly to the new regulation.
What about existing accounts?
Beyond the new sign-up ban, accounts already opened by under-15 users will be closed in February 2027. The restriction therefore covers not only new registrations but also current users.
Why it matters
With a large audience in Turkey, Twitch's move is a concrete example of how age-verification and child online access rules are being applied to platforms. Similar obligations could come up for other services.
