Kyber rack and 576 GPUs

NVIDIA shared official specifications for its Rubin Ultra platform at GTC. Vera Rubin Ultra will run on the larger, fully liquid-cooled Kyber rack instead of the Oberon NVL72 servers used today. Each rack will hold 576 GPUs that behave as one giant GPU.

CPO and NVLink

The GPUs will be linked using next-generation CPO (co-packaged optics) and NVLink technologies. NVIDIA says this combination will deliver the highest performance per watt.

Targeting 10 trillion parameters

The company says Rubin Ultra is designed to train and run AI models at the 10 trillion-parameter scale, far beyond current-generation models.

Timing

NVIDIA says the platform will arrive next year. Rubin Ultra follows Rubin as the next step in its data center roadmap.
