In brief

In his GTC Berlin 2026 keynote, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said the company will commit nearly $10 billion to Europe's technology ecosystem and work with more than 12,000 partners. Huang described AI as a five-layer stack spanning energy to applications.

  • Nearly $10 billion commitment to Europe's technology ecosystem
  • Collaboration with 12,000+ partners
  • Five-layer AI framework: energy, computers, models, tokens, applications
  • More than 100 sessions at GTC Berlin

GTC Berlin's core message: infrastructure comes first

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang used his GTC 2026 keynote in Berlin to expand the company's European footprint. After a weeklong tour across Paris, London, Stockholm and Dublin, the company said it is committing nearly $10 billion to the continent's technology ecosystem and working with more than 12,000 partners.

Huang said European companies including L'Oréal, Revolut, Spotify, Merck, Vodafone, Zara, Porsche, Nestlé and HSBC are working with NVIDIA on AI.

"At the beginnings of a new industrial revolution"

Huang said that after decades of advancement in the computer industry, the world is at the start of a new industrial revolution. He described AI as a "five-layer cake": energy, advanced computers that act as AI factories, the tokens and digital intelligence generated by models running on them, and the applications those models are integrated into.

"Long before the AI models emerge, the infrastructure has to exist," Huang said, noting that the internet first needed networking and electricity first required the grid.

Producing vs. consuming AI

Huang stressed that countries and companies need to be on the producing side of the AI economy, not just consuming it. "We could do all of that here in Europe, and in fact, we've already started," he said.

GTC Berlin runs for three days, with more than 100 sessions on agentic AI, robotics, physical AI, open models and accelerated computing.

Why it matters

NVIDIA's European investment is a key signal for the continent's AI infrastructure and the competitiveness of local companies. Readers can take away that AI must be considered together with energy and hardware layers, not just models.
