Agent cuts chip design down to hours
Chip design normally requires expensive EDA tools and long engineering hours. According to Wccftech, a semiconductor expert used Meta's Muse AI agent to design a crypto-specific SoC (system-on-chip) based on the RISC-V architecture.
The agent didn't just write it, it tested it
Muse went beyond generating the design: it tested the chip and ran the manufacturing-prep software by itself. The report cites a cost of around $2,000 for the effort.
The goal: speeding up the Thru blockchain
The design aims to turn the Thru blockchain into "the fastest on Earth." Crypto-specific hardware can offer speed advantages where general-purpose chips fall short.
Why it matters
AI agents moving beyond software into hardware design is a concrete example of how chip development could change in the coming years. Still, this is a single case with no independent verification, so caution is warranted.
