Withdrawals back online
Binance has resumed the crypto withdrawals it had temporarily suspended. The move marks a step back toward normal operations after the $6.3 billion security breach.
95% of assets covered
The company said it has now covered 95% of the stolen assets. Despite the scale of the breach, that figure suggests the bulk of user assets has been secured.
Background
The incident first surfaced when Binance halted withdrawals, with the stolen amount climbing from $2 billion to $5.6 billion and then to $6.3 billion. The FBI attributed the attack to North Korea.
What's next
Resuming withdrawals signals the exchange is recovering operationally. It remains unclear how and when the remaining assets will be covered, and how the security gap was closed.
