AMD pledges $1bn to Meta's equity offering
AMD said on Tuesday, 27 October, that it will invest $1bn in Meta's equity offering. The announcement came alongside a release on the two companies' partnership.
Helios racks go live at Meta
AMD also said its first Helios rack systems are now running at Meta. Helios is AMD's rack-scale system family designed for AI compute, bundling chips into an integrated infrastructure.
On top of Nvidia's commitment
AMD's pledge comes on top of Nvidia's announced $3bn investment in Meta. That adds to the equity commitments chipmakers are making to Meta as it builds out AI infrastructure.
Why it matters
As Meta expands its AI data centers, it is becoming a customer financed in part by both Nvidia and AMD. Helios running at Meta shows AMD's rack-scale alternative to Nvidia is being used in a real production environment.
