What happened

Daytona, a startup building cloud infrastructure for AI agents, has reached a $1 billion valuation. FirstMark led the round, and the company added founders of Stripe, Perplexity, Datadog and Mercor to its angel investor list.

What the product does

Daytona's system is described as giving each AI agent its own computer environment. Running agent tasks in isolated environments has become a key need for both security and scale.

Why it matters

As the number of agents grows, providing each with a separate compute environment has sparked a new race on the infrastructure side. Google's Agent Compute Engine launch shows how active the space has become, and Daytona's $1 billion valuation reflects investor confidence in it.
