Meta unveils Petal, the world's first petabit-class transatlantic cable
Meta has announced Petal, a transatlantic subsea cable planned to go live in 2029 and connect France and the United States. The company aims to reach 1 Pbps capacity by placing two light-guiding cores in a single glass strand. The project is being built with NEC, Sumitomo Electric and Orange.
