Linus Torvalds posts his first AI-assisted patch to the Linux kernel
Linus Torvalds has submitted his first LLM-assisted patch to the Linux kernel. The patch targets cache contention when many CPUs read the same file; a synthetic benchmark showed up to a 23x speedup, though real-world impact is expected to be far smaller. The kernel team is also dropping the requirement for patch authors to disclose AI tool use.
