What is RTX Spark?

Nvidia's new RTX Spark platform may look like ordinary Windows laptops, but it packs Arm-based chips inside. Unlike the x64 architecture used by AMD and Intel, this setup combines with a powerful GPU to create a computing platform designed for AI.

Why it matters

Microsoft and Nvidia held a launch event in San Francisco last week for the first wave of RTX Spark laptops. The event showcased a new generation of AI PCs and offered a hands-on area for attendees.

Work on the Windows side

Arm-based chips require extra work on compatibility with traditional x64 applications and driver support. That's why Microsoft and Nvidia have made extensive optimizations to Windows to get these laptops ready for the AI era.

When?

The launch event took place last week, introducing the first wave of the platform. For more technical details, see The Verge's full story.
