What is guest calling?
Meta has expanded calling on WhatsApp. With the new "guest calling" feature, people without a WhatsApp account can join a call through a link. That means a conversation can happen regardless of which apps the other person has installed.
How it works
Only users with a WhatsApp account can create a call link. A guest who receives the link opens it in a computer browser, types in their name, and waits in a waiting room; once the host admits them, they join the call. Group calls support up to 32 people.
Privacy and limits
Guests can't see other participants' phone numbers, send messages, or add anyone else to the call. The host can remove guests at any time. Calls are end-to-end encrypted and have no time limits.
Next up: calendar integration
Meta says calendar integrations with Google and Outlook are coming later this year. After installing the WhatsApp plugin and connecting an account, users will be able to add a WhatsApp call link directly to a calendar invite.
