Storage demand brings HDDs back

As AI and cloud data centers expand, storage needs are rising fast. That has pushed hard disk drive (HDD) technology, which had faded into the background, back into the spotlight.

Toshiba doubles capacity

To meet this demand, Toshiba will double its production capacity. The move is meant to let the company build higher-capacity drives at greater volume.

Targets: 30, 65 and 100 TB

Toshiba's roadmap includes 30 TB and 65 TB class drives, with the company aiming to reach the 100 TB level in the future. These drives are aimed primarily at the heavy storage needs of data centers.
