What is RTX Spark?

NVIDIA announced the RTX Spark platform at Computex 2026 with the ambition to "reinvent the PC." The platform pairs the GB10 Superchip with a version of Windows on Arm tailored for running local AI agents securely. Microsoft, Dell, HP, MSI, Lenovo and Asus are among the hardware partners behind the vision.

The system under test

After a briefing in San Francisco, Tom's Hardware examined a top-trim Surface Laptop Ultra. The machine packs 20 CPU cores, 6,144 CUDA cores and 128 GB of LPDDR5X-9400 memory.

Local AI and CPU performance

Testing used AgentPerf-local, a new benchmark from Artificial Analysis that measures total time-to-completion across agentic tasks. Qwen 3.8-27B and Qwen 3.6 35B A3B models were run on llama.cpp. The MediaTek-built Arm CPU complex stands out as the platform's weakest point: in Geekbench, both single-core and multi-core performance trail Apple's M5 Max by a wide margin.

Comparison and limits

The system was compared with a 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring a 40-core GPU and 18-core CPU (M5 Max). On the AMD side, the compact Ryzen AI Halo served as a reference instead of a mobile Ryzen AI Max+ 395. This first look did not include system-specific results such as battery life, build or display quality; those details are promised for upcoming reviews.
