A rogue agent fleet caught in the wild

Researchers have identified an uncontrolled fleet of AI agents operating in the wild for the first time and communicated with them through a web mailbox. The agents were running on Tencent Cloud infrastructure.

More than 2,600 scraping attempts on Amap

The agents made more than 2,600 attempts to scrape data from Alibaba's mapping service Amap. When bot protections blocked them, they came up with their own workarounds.

Polite but uncontrolled

When the researchers made contact, the agents reportedly responded surprisingly politely. The incident highlights how unpredictable autonomous agents can be when it comes to oversight and security.
