OpenAI announced a new API for classifying text and images. The Decisions API reduces complex evaluation tasks to simple outputs: yes/no probabilities, category picks, or ratings on a scale.

According to the company, the API classifies text and images about ten times faster than the existing Responses API. Pricing is set at $0.10 per million input tokens.

OpenAI also cut its paid API tiers from five to three, simplifying the options available to developers.
