What was announced?

NVIDIA said it will donate compute valued at $250 million over five years to strengthen the United Kingdom's agentic safety and security research capability. The commitment provides $50 million in compute access each year.

Who benefits?

Most of the compute will support the wider UK AI safety and security research community. A portion will back work with the British Open-Ended Learning and Discovery Lab (BOLD), led by the University of Oxford; the Science of Fundamental AI Research Lab (SOFAIR), led by UCL; and Imperial College London, whose work includes safety engineering and robotics.

How will compute be delivered?

Access will be provided through U.K.-based NVIDIA Cloud Partners, supporting the nation's research capability and compute ecosystem.

Why it matters

NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang said AI capability and safety must advance together. U.K. AI Minister Kanishka Narayan called the donation a vote of confidence in the country's AI research strength, particularly frontier AI safety. The program focuses on developing, testing and strengthening safeguards for increasingly powerful agentic AI systems.
