In brief

NVIDIA announced it is joining the European Commission's AI in Science Enablers initiative launched at the AI in Science Summit in Dublin. The company will offer researchers more than 250 open models, 250 open datasets and over 1,400 open source projects, along with free courseware from its Deep Learning Institute and compute access through European national AI factories.

  • More than 250 open models and 250 open datasets
  • Over 1,400 open source software projects
  • Agentic reasoning with Nemotron
  • BioNeMo, PhysicsNeMo, Earth-2 and ALCHEMI tools
  • Free, openly licensed Deep Learning Institute courseware
  • Compute access via national AI factories in France, Spain and Sweden

Europe's push for AI in science

The European Commission launched the AI in Science Enablers Initiative at the AI in Science Summit in Dublin. The initiative is tied to RAISE (Resource for AI Science in Europe) and aims to bring private-sector support closer to Europe's research community. NVIDIA is among the companies joining the campaign.

NVIDIA's commitments

NVIDIA said it will provide researchers with accelerated tools, models and platforms; compute, cloud and data resources; skills, training and technical support; collaborative projects and pilots; and support for startups and ecosystem development.

The company says it has released more than 250 open models, 250 open datasets and over 1,400 open source software projects to date. These resources are available on Hugging Face and GitHub.

Models and tools

Researchers can use the NVIDIA Nemotron family for agentic reasoning. For biology, chemistry, molecular design, weather and climate, energy, engineering, physics and materials science, NVIDIA offers the BioNeMo Agent Toolkit, PhysicsNeMo libraries, Earth-2 models and ALCHEMI NIM microservices.

Training and compute access

The NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute launched an open source courseware hub with hands-on materials covering accelerated computing and deep learning. The materials are freely downloadable, openly licensed and require no enrollment, fees or deadline.

On the compute side, NVIDIA is working with cloud infrastructure partners and national AI factories in France, Spain and Sweden to open new access routes for startups and SMEs. France's AI2F became the first AI factory to collaborate with the Inception program for four months, while Spain's BSC AI Factory is rolling out its first full accelerator program after a pilot.

Why it matters

Access to compute and tooling has been the biggest barrier for small labs and early-career researchers in Europe; this pledge could open that door. The open models and free courseware are also directly usable by research groups in Turkey.
