  • Roughly double the $22 billion valuation from May 2026

How the round came together

US-based prediction market platform Kalshi closed a $1 billion Series G round. Sequoia Capital and Wellington Management co-led the round, with Baillie Gifford, Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Coatue Management and Andreessen Horowitz also participating.

The company's valuation now stands at $40 billion. Kalshi had raised another $1 billion at a $22 billion valuation last May, meaning its valuation has nearly doubled in about six months.

What Kalshi does

Founded in 2018 by Tarek Mansour and Luana Lopes Lara, the platform lets users buy and sell contracts on the outcomes of future events, spanning election results, sports matches and the economy.

Contract prices reflect the market's expectation of how likely a given outcome is. Kalshi runs these trades through a regulated exchange infrastructure.

Where the money goes

The company said it will use the new funding for product development aimed at both individual and institutional users. Kalshi already builds products for retail users as well as corporate clients.

Why it matters

Prediction markets are spreading as a way to price the likelihood of events, and this round shows how much capital the sector attracts. It gives readers a quick answer to why these platforms are valued so highly.
