Gemini 4 Argon arrives
After sitting on the sidelines of the frontier AI race for months, Google has released its long-awaited Gemini 4 Argon model. The company says it can compete with the best the industry has to offer.
What it promises
According to Google, Argon delivers frontier reasoning and improved performance across complex workflows. The model is said to hedge less and rely less on repetition and the cliches that continue to plague AI chatbots.
Comparison with rivals
Google claims Argon outperforms rival models including GPT-6 Astra and Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Opus 5.5 across a range of benchmarks covering coding, cybersecurity, science, finance and law. These claims have not yet been independently verified.
Internal use
Google says it is already putting Argon to use internally. Details on when and in which products it will reach users remain unclear.
