First experiment completed

The first experiment has been conducted at TARLA, Turkey's homegrown particle accelerator. Particle accelerators are large scientific facilities that drive charged particles to very high speeds for a range of experiments.

Where will it be used?

The facility is expected to serve fields ranging from satellite technologies and the defense industry to cancer treatment research, meaning TARLA will be used on both the engineering and health research sides.

Why it matters

Bringing a domestic accelerator online can be seen as a concrete step toward Turkey's goal of reducing reliance on foreign infrastructure and building its own research capacity. Attention now turns to the facility's capacity and usage schedule following the first experiment.
