What's in North 2?

Cohere has unveiled North 2, the new version of its enterprise-focused AI agent platform, positioning it as the most comprehensive North update to date.

At the center is a new agent orchestration system that can handle complex, multi-step processes on its own. Users can create agents and automations through natural-language commands, while critical steps remain open to human approval. Agents can be shared across the company so teams don't have to rebuild the same workflow.

New capabilities and integrations

  • Memory: Agents retain context across different sessions.
  • Skills: Frequently used capabilities and business logic become reusable.
  • Libraries: Shared knowledge and file pools can be created company-wide.
  • Users can produce presentations, documents, dashboards and simple app prototypes inside the chat interface using natural-language commands.
  • Ready-made automation templates and a drag-and-drop visual workflow builder are included, with real-time performance monitoring for automations.

North 2 connects to Slack, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, Jira, Linear, Notion and GitHub. Cohere says it is also working on integrations with financial data providers such as PitchBook, Crunchbase, Daloopa, FiscalAI, S&P Global and FactSet.

Cost and security

The North Admin panel lets administrators track token usage at the user and agent level. They can set usage tiers based on request counts and token consumption, impose company-wide spending limits and alert teams before limits are reached.

The platform is model-agnostic: companies can use Cohere's models or bring in other AI models of their choice. On security, North 2 offers per-agent rules and authorization policies, autonomy policies that restrict agents to permitted actions, and mandatory human approval for critical decisions.

North 2 can run on a company's own infrastructure, in private cloud environments or in fully air-gapped systems. Cohere is targeting sectors with high data security and regulatory requirements, such as finance, government, healthcare and telecommunications. The company says work with NVIDIA lets its models reach higher token throughput per node on Blackwell and Hopper GPUs, helping lower usage costs. The previous version of North has been generally available since August 2025.

Why it matters

As enterprise AI agents spread, cost and security remain the two biggest open questions. North 2 addresses both directly, making it relevant for readers following enterprise technology decisions.
