AI Search goes GA
Cloudflare has made its AI Search service generally available after more than a year in preview. The service combines Workers AI, Vectorize, R2 and Browser Run into a single managed index and retrieval pipeline. Cloudflare itself uses it to power search on its blog and developer documentation.
Image search that actually sees images
Previously, images could only be searched through object detection and generated captions. The new version embeds image pixels directly while retaining captions for textual understanding. This brings color, texture, composition and spatial relationships into search, capturing details that are hard to express in words. The capability is available today with the Qwen3-VL-Embedding model.
OCR and larger files
AI Search now accepts text files such as Markdown, HTML, CSV and JSON, adds OCR support for scanned PDFs, and handles larger files.
Pricing
With general availability, billing starts on November 1, 2026. Cloudflare says it will continue to offer a generous free tier on all Workers plans.
