A dedicated data centre in Osaka
Citing multiple sources, Nikkei Asia reports that NTT Data is close to agreeing a deal with Anthropic for a data centre in Osaka. If completed, the site would be the first in Japan built specifically for Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI models.
Why it matters
AI companies are increasingly investing in their own data centre capacity to run their models. A dedicated facility in Japan can be read as a move by Anthropic to strengthen its infrastructure footprint in Asia and serve users in the region more closely.
Unconfirmed
The Next Web, which published the report, says it has not independently verified the claim. There is no official statement yet from NTT Data or Anthropic, and the scope, investment size and timeline of any deal remain unclear.
