A $100 million answer to the talent gap
Anthropic has launched Claude Frontier Academy to address one of the biggest bottlenecks in enterprise AI: talent. The company has committed $100 million to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers (FDEs) by the end of 2027.
The academy is described as the first of its kind from an AI company, built from Anthropic's own experience deploying Claude inside the world's largest enterprises and the professional services firms that serve them.
First program: Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency
The program follows the medical model for building expertise. Engineers learn from practitioners, practice on realistic cases, and are assessed before they practice alone.
Participants begin with a multi-day in-person program led by Anthropic engineers and licensed instructors. They work through a simulated enterprise deployment, from use case selection through security review to handover. Those who pass earn the Claude Resident Engineer badge and move into a 12-week residency, where they lead a real Claude use case at their own organization.
Who is taking part?
The program targets hands-on software engineers with strong fundamentals, a record of building with LLMs, and experience helping others adopt AI. Organizations nominate their strongest engineers, each arriving with a named Claude project to lead on return. Prior experience building AI agents is not required.
The first cohorts include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley and Novo Nordisk.
