Anthropic integrates Claude into Google Workspace

Moving into Google's apps

Anthropic has released Claude for Google Workspace, an add-on that integrates Claude directly into Google Docs, Sheets and Slides. It is currently in public beta and available only to users on paid Claude plans. Installation is done through the Google Workspace Marketplace.

How it works

The add-on runs in a sidebar next to the file, letting users give Claude instructions in the context of the document:

  • Docs: Fix typos, rewrite sections and change styles while preserving existing formatting.
  • Sheets: Write formulas and build tables based on the file's context; upload additional documents or spreadsheets to generate new content.
  • Slides: Create new slides using existing layouts and themes, and flag elements that may need updating.

The add-on also includes an "ask before edits" mode, so users can review Claude's changes before they are applied.

Anthropic is also rolling out new Claude connectors for Docs, Sheets and Slides. Users can paste a Google Workspace file link into a Claude chat and edit the file directly through Claude.
