A new rack for agentic AI from AMD
At OCP 2026, AMD announced a new rack-scale solution designed to meet the compute demands of agentic AI workflows. Called Helion, the rack can house up to 32,768 EPYC Zen 6 cores.
Two configuration options
Helion gives customers a choice: an all-CPU configuration and a configuration that combines CPUs with GPUs. This is meant to provide flexibility across different workloads.
An open platform approach
AMD describes Helion as an open blueprint for agentic AI. Following the same open-platform approach as the company's flagship Helios rack, Helion is built around EPYC processors.
Rack-scale solutions aim to manage AI workloads that exceed the limits of a single server as one system. AMD's move targets the growing infrastructure demand as agentic AI applications spread.
