Inference workloads take center stage

AMD CEO Lisa Su said inference workloads will come to the fore in the AI market. Inference is the process of a trained model generating a response for a user; unlike training, it is a continuous and widespread workload.

A $200 billion market forecast

According to Su, the processor market will exceed $200 billion by 2030. The forecast rests on the expectation that AI-driven demand will also expand the CPU side of the business.

Why it matters

AMD is one of the few companies competing in both the CPU and AI accelerator markets. Su's forecast can be read as a signal of where chip demand is headed in the coming years.
